Mike has been working in IT for over 20 years. He graduated from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 2004 with an undergraduate degree in Information Systems with a Computer Science minor. He then began his work career working in tech support for a software company before moving to a position with a regional bank where he worked for three years as a system administrator. He then moved to the Northern Virginia area where he took a job as an Information Technology Manager with a government subcontractor, where he stayed another three years. During this time, he finished his MBA from Clarion University in August of 2010. In 2011, he then took the position of Information Technology Director with a large paving contractor. He has a passion for sports, technology and science and loves to apply the logic that technology and science provide to everyday life.
The name is a nod to Mike's favorite city, Pittsburgh. Being born and raised in western Pennsylvania, the name is a nod to the city and the "mythical" 4th River. (The actual "river" is what geologists call an "aquifer." It's basically a 30-foot-thick layer of highly porous stone and coarse sand, a layer of earth that traps massive amounts of water inside it.)
